How to Calculate Seating for Your Event
Planning the right number of chairs and tables is one of the most important parts of event preparation. Too few seats and guests are left standing; too many and you waste money and space. For most events using 6-foot folding tables, the standard rule is 6 guests per table for comfortable seating or up to 8 for standard spacing. A formal dinner may warrant spacious seating with 6 per table, while a casual backyard party can fit 8 comfortably. Our calculator adjusts for three comfort levels and automatically adds an 8% chair buffer (minimum 4 extra chairs) to ensure you always have enough seating.
